Property: Our vibrant, luxurious and modern house is situated on seven landscaped acres with fruit trees, culinary and cutting garden, large lily pond, and horse pasture.  Views of the Pacific Ocean and the summit of Mauna Kea can be seen from Waianuhea. Waianuhea (cool, soft fragrance, as of upland forests) provides soothing, peaceful, and luxurious accommodations while combining a sense of remote retreat with modern convenience and sumptuous furnishings. 

Experience our staff’s warm aloha and dedication to your comfort and relaxation. Sleep in comfy, cozy beds with soft to the touch sheets. 

Be served a full breakfast and fresh hot coffee while gazing at the summit of Mauna Kea.  Enjoy a picnic on the grounds or fix yourself a light lunch from our meal and snack bar.  Curl up with a good book in our spacious public areas, watch a current or classic DVD in your room, play a game of checkers with your travel partner.  Peruse our little gift shop.  Go out for a hike or bike ride, just out the driveway. 

Come back to your private oasis and soak in the tub or meet up with other guests at the eight-person spa.  Schedule a massage or facial.  Find company and conversation at wine hour along with delicious wines and pupus. 

Drive to Waimea for world class dining or have a private dinner catered in your room.  In the evening, you’ll find your room neatly tidied and the bed turned down (with a special treat) in preparation for your deep and restful sleep.

Location: Located in beautiful Ahualoa at the 2500 foot elevation above Honokaa Town, we offer the visitor a different perspective of life in Hawai’i.   Halfway between Hilo and Kona, Waianuhea is a welcome respite from the busier parts of the island and also a great base for sightseeing adventures.
Facilities: Well stocked snack and meal bar, Massage room, Extensive DVD library, Gift Shop, Jacuzzi, Beautiful grounds, BBQ grill.
Waianuhea is also well suited for weddings, small retreats, corporate meetings, and workshops. 
Our Great Room, extra half baths and spacious relaxation area with a treatment room and large solar heated spa make an ideal setting for any event.
Rooms: All rooms have private baths, TVs, DVD and CD players, satellite television programming, phones, internet access, comfy robes and slippers.  Some rooms include a gas or wood stove, large soaking tub, lanai or private deck. 
Gilchrist & Soames bath products are featured. 
Five rooms are available:  two queen rooms, two king rooms, and one suite with a king bed and queen sleeper sofa. 
Rates: $150 - $300 per night, single or double occupancy.  $25 extra person charge.
Breakfast: Breakfast at Waianuhea is a gourmet’s delight complete with fruit plate and hot entrée served by cheery waitresses in our dining area.  On the side bar are cereals and yogurts for your selection.  You may also have a continental breakfast tray brought to your room.   All food selections are as organic, local and fresh as possible, and we are happy to accommodate vegetarian or other dietary restrictions.
Payment & Cancellation Policy: We accept cash, travelers checks, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover Card.  A deposit of one night’s room rate plus applicable taxes is due upon booking. 
If your plans change, notifying us more than 48 hours prior to arrival will entitle you to a full refund.  If you notify us less than 48 hours prior to arrival, you will forfeit your deposit unless we are able to rebook the room.
