Luana Ola B&B Cottages

The Essentials

The Essence

Property: Two very private organic acres with sweeping unobstructed ocean views. Enjoy incredible ocean views from your own private lanai! Maui and Haleakala Mountain are common views.  During Whale watching season whales can be seen breaching off shore.  "Luana Ola" in the Hawaiian language means:"To be at leisure, enjoying pleasant surroundings and good health". Once you have visited "Luana Ola"  all the tension and stress of modern living will melt away and we are sure that you will agree that "Luana Ola" truly means "To be at leisure, enjoying pleasant surroundings and good health".

One side of the property is border by tropical gulch where there are great views, from the cabins, of many types of colorful fragrant Gingers as well as Kikui Nut trees, Palm trees, Papayas, Bananas, Avocados, and a variety of Citrus trees. There are also Ferns and tropical flowers like Heliconia, Hibiscus, Orchids, etc. There is a 10 foot and 30 foot intermittent Waterfall.

All of this Private Tropical Splendor is located just a short walk to Historic Honokaa Town; an old Sugar Cane Town, with shops, historic points of interest and a movie theater and restaurants. Charming Old Town Honokaa allows you to get a taste of life in old Hawaii. The wonderful sprit of Aloha is reflected in all the smiles and faces of our towns' people. Unspoiled by modern culturalzation you will feel you have stepped back to a slower simpler time.

From your private cottage you can walk all to town in minutes where you will find a surprising number of cute little shops with everything from antiques to local crafts for that perfect gift for those poor friends that had to stay back home. The town Theater, The Honokaa Peoples Theater,  is also a short walk and it shows art-type films on Tuesday, Wednesday and top box office-types on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Honokaa Peoples Theater is also home to the Hamakua Music Festival in October each year that is host to many world class entertainers in a greatly diversified spectrum of the music world. The town of Honokaa is a center for well established Artisan Crafts' people of the Hamakua Coast in much as the Monterey-Carmel Coast was in the 1950s' and 60s'. The Old Macadamia Nut Factory is a must see with coffee roasting and glass blowing and lots of great local art and crafts!

Marsha and Ray live on the property and are available and happy to help with exploration plans or recommend a good restaurant.
