At the top of historic Haili Street you will find the stately, craftsman style Hilo Honu Inn. Extensive renovations have created a haven for the discriminating businessman or island visitor. Located just blocks above Hilo bay, we are within walking distance to such attractions as Rainbow Falls, the Lyman and Tsunami museums, and the Farmer's Market, as well as many favorite local shops and restaurants.

Each guest room or suite has its own style. Each room has its own private bath with spa fixtures. Guest beds have luxury pillow top mattresses and Polo linens. Rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, refrigerators, and cable TV with VCR/DVD, wireless Internet access, irons/ironing boards and hair dryers. Daily maid service includes fresh towels, trash removal and general tidying.

Our goal is to make you feel comfortable and at home while pampering you with exquisite surroundings and attention to details. We want to share our love of this special place with all of our guests so please allow us to offer suggestions on activities and restaurants. We have beach towels and mats, coolers, and boogie boards available for your convenience. Each room has its own copy of Big Island Revealed (in our opinion, the best tour book available) that you may take with you on your daily excursions.

Location

The Hilo Honu Inn is located just 10 minutes from the Hilo airport and approximately 35 minutes from Volcano. Our downtown Hilo location offers the visitor the widest choice of dining in East Hawaii, many within walking distance of the inn.

Rooms/Suites

We offer a choice of three accommodations designed to meet the needs of many business and pleasure travelers.

The Honu's Nest - An ocean theme defines this room and en suite bath, which is located on the main floor. Furnished with a queen size luxury pillow top bed and a comfortable recliner for reading or watching television, you will enjoy the garden views from this casually comfortable corner room. Accommodates 2. The bath has a custom vessel sink and mosaic tiled shower with rainfall showerhead and hand held spray.

Bali Hai Suite - Also located on the main floor, this two-room suite is a tropical oasis with Hawaiian prints and elegant furnishings. The sitting room has a twin size daybed, armchair and TV cabinet, while the main bedroom is furnished with a dramatic four poster queen size bed, a window seat with garden views and its own television. The two rooms can be closed off with pocket doors for privacy. The large bath is appointed with custom teak cabinetry and a spa shower with bench.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served each morning between 7:30 and 9:00AM in the dining room and consists of local fresh fruits, coffee, tea and fruit smoothies. In addition we offer special baked goods from our kitchen such as Soufleed Banana Mac nut Pancake, Orange French Toast, or Macaroon Shortcake with Baked Pineapple.

Off street parking is available for guests. All guestrooms have refrigerators, cable TV with VCR/DVD, irons/ironing boards, and hair dryers. A selection of videos and DVDs is provided. Magazines and books on Hawaiian culture, plants and sea life. General interest magazines also available for browsing. Beach gear such as towels, mats, coolers and boogie boards provided. We are not equipped to accommodate small children (no cribs or high chairs). If you are traveling with children please feel free to call and discuss the possible arrangements.

We accept major credit cards, travelers checks and cash.
There is no charge if a reservation is cancelled more than two weeks before arrival date. With less than two weeks notice, there is a charge of one night's stay including taxes.
